Blazing wildfires that have engulfed popular summer resort spots near Athens, Greece have now reported to have killed at 74 people.
The intense fires have hit Kineta, Rafina, and Melissi. The seaside community of Mati, which is within Rafina and about 21 miles east of Athens, was the worst hit.
At least 187 people, including 23 children, have been injured. The youngest victim of the blaze thus far is believed to be a 6-month-old baby who died due to smoke inhalation.
The fires are the worst to hit Greece since the blazes that burned its way through the southern Peloponnese region in August 2007. 70 people were killed in those fires.
