Consumer confidence lower for the 5th straight month – University of Michigan

According University of Michigan survey, consumer confidence was lowered for August. The survey in July had confidence at 97.6 and then at 96.2 in August This makes it the 5th straight time since March the number has lowered.

These survey results though don’t seem to match up with what the Conference Board out of New York reported, which was that August was the highest consumer sentiment has been since October 2000.
